A northern Saskatchewan First Nation has blockaded a road and issued a cease-and-desist order against a Toronto uranium company. Birch Narrows Dene Nation officials say they took action after workers with Baselode Energy Corp. started surveying the band’s traditional territory without consent.
First Nations leaders are rallying behind the Birch Narrows Dene Nation in its dispute with the provincial government and a uranium company.
The city can now put out the tender for Phase 1 of the project, which would include the creation of an entry bosque area, as well as a festival headquarters building and studies to deal with the more complicated parts of the project.
