After the number of active cases across the territory started to decrease since last Thursday, it went up again Wednesday, from 335 to 356, an increase of 21.
The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services Kangirsuk reached a red alert level starting Saturday night, after a positive case of COVID-19 was identified in the community of about 500.
Yukon Communicable Disease Control said the case is linked to the Grade 5b class at the school. A COVID-19 case connected to the same class was announced last week Tuesday.
A letter from the Harry Camsell Elementary School's principal, Carolyn Carroll, said contact tracing is underway and exposure notifications have been sent out after some staff and students were exposed to a positive case of COVID-19.
